Mediator, Award Writer, Aspiring Labor Arbitrator

I’m a certified facilitative mediator with experience in community, small claims, civil, and employment disputes. In addition to hands-on practice, I’ve received academic training in evaluative, transformative, and restorative justice practices. I take a toolkit-based approach—drawing from all styles to meet the specific needs of each conflict and the people involved.

My expertise extends beyond mediation. I am also adept at assisting in drafting labor arbitration awards. My academic and hands-on training have equipped me with the skills to support arbitrators in the study, research, and drafting of awards while maintaining their decision-making authority. I believe that it is a great privilege to sit with people in their time of conflict because it is a moment of involuntary vulnerability. While I can’t change what happened between parties, I can help parties figure out what the future will look like. I assist parties in resolving disputes and facilitating agreements with integrity, inclusivity, and a focus on the future.

I currently mediate cases for Gallatin and Madison County Justice Courts in Montana, as well as the 16th Judicial Circuit in Kane County, Illinois. I also serve as a contract mediator for the EEOC RESOLVE program.

More About Hanni

For the past two years, I have partnered with Montana Mediation Help and Cornell University ILR School to create a hands-on mediation program at Gallatin County Justice Court that supports the Court’s busy caseload while giving students real-world conflict resolution experience. As a liaison and program coordinator, I help ensure a meaningful experience for both parties and student mediators, offering guidance as a mentor and sharing insights as a guest lecturer at Cornell.

I am also the Chairperson of the Early Career ADR Network (ECADRN), a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting new professionals entering the field of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) with a focus on diversity and accessibility. ECADRN believes that alternative dispute resolution is not just a professional practice—it’s a vital solution for fostering understanding and resolving disputes in every community, and it starts with building the next generation of neutrals.
